October 28: Modern in the Middle virtual book talk with authors Michelangelo Sabatino and Susan Benjamin hosted by Center for Architecture

Michelangelo Sabatino, Director of the Illinois Institute of Technology Ph.D. Program in Architecture, and Susan Benjamin, Historian and Preservationist, co-authored the new book Modern in the Middle: Chicago Houses 1929-1975 which analyzes the significance of modern residential architecture through case studies of both well known and obscure modern homes in and around Chicago. Sabatino and Benjamin will discuss the research that went into producing this book and Theodore Prudon, FAIA who will discuss the unique challenges of preserving modern architecture. Reed Kroloff, Dean of the Illinois Institute of Technology’s College of Architecture will introduce the speakers and the program will conclude with a group discussion moderated by Gwendolyn Wright, Professor Emerita at Columbia GSAPP.
